Christopher House is a multi-site agency located on the north and west sides of Chicago. Begun in 1906 by the First Presbyterian Church of Evanston, Christopher House has grown from being a settlement house for newly arrived immigrants to a place where children and families grow to prosper in the situations at hand. Focused primarily on early childhood education, Christopher House also serves children until they’re 18 years old through after school programs, tutoring and college and career preparation.
Because Christopher House understands that serving the child is not enough, the agency focuses on building stronger, thriving families so that a child is growing in a stable home environment. In addition to educational services, Christopher House also offers emergency help, food pantries, adult literacy classes and prenatal parenting services.
